hearing Kodiak call out "halt" behind him startalon spins around so fast his cloak almost becomes a blur. all of the sudden he has flipped his knife around so he is holding it by the blade, cocked back at his ear, and another appearing in the other hand from some where along his back. he barely checks his throw in time to recognize a fellow night elf but it is a close thing. but instead of greating him warmly as a fellow nightdweller he hisses low under his breath.

"be careful" he whispers to damian and Kodiak. "i do not know him therefor he is not from my enclave. remember how i said there is not much communication between the different dwellings? there is a reason for that. different families do not always get along with each other and sometimes if pushed enough there is open warfare between tribes."

The Stranger Pulled his staff closer and started muttering under his breath. The Staff Glowed a soft orange and throbbed with power. Soon a blue gateway was forming to his right. THe wind picked up and the sky darkened. THe Stranger clearly had no peaceful intent.

It was not the kind of day that Korlash had been expecting. out on his solo hunt he had previously come across a group of soldiers not from a region of which he knew...and he knew many things and secrets that he should not.

And now this, hidden on the rooftops. such a gathering he had never seen before, one of which he knew well of as his own tribe, the other elf was venom to all other dark elves, and a half breed. with them was one of the soldiers that he had seen earlier, battered and bleeding, who had presumiably had a run in with the dark elf and his party.

However this was not of his top priority as another stranger had entered this bizzare scene leaving havoc in his wake and now he had come across the dark elf and his ... ' companions'. obviously showing no remorse for his prey he had already engaged in a witchcraft of which Korlash was most uncomfortable

not accustomed to violence in his domain he stooped to ground level immidiatly, ready to set a new tone to this gathering he leveled his bow at the newcommer.

(intend to attack)

The DM watches idley, wondering at what spell a first level mage could possibly be able to cast that opens a gateway...

in acknowledgment to this new threat, Darien searches through the few remaining spells in his memory. Quickly deciding one, he goes to work on casting it at the stranger.

crovax walked into the street and stared at the scene infront of him a sight he had not seen in many a year of living in the wilderness 2 mages one about to attack the other and the other with somthing beside him and a ranger with his arrow pointed at the second mage

he felt down in reasurence that his blade was still there hoing this was not going to be one of those days and slowly moved forward to see what was happening

As Feanor drifted out of consciousness he felt wind blowing through his long crimson hair and he had a sudden realization of falling. as he opened his eyes and passing the initial fear he surveyed the scene bellow him. a group of what looked like dots but feanor as he plummeted downwards took to be people were having a stand off with another dot (who was looking very surprised at a blue portal next to him) while another ranger who he vaguely recognized aimed a bow at the group. as he took this in another dot strode out of the town and stood taking in the unusual scene that was unveiling beneath him, and feanor thought what an appropriate time to plummet through the air as it had an excellent vantage point. as the blue portal started to fade he found himself slowing until when the portal had disappeared he was safely on the ground a few hundred yards behind the group. he then approached the group with a strange confidence that they wouldn't attack them.

The Stranger Looks Starled, In the confusion he turns and makes a break for it. As He turned a small parchment falls to the floor by the time the paper hits the ground the Dark elf is nearly out of sight.

startled by an even stranger twist of events Korlash withdrew his bow. he wondered whether he was in a sickening dream as a crimson haired crusader hasd just fallen from the sky and now happily welcoming the sight of the group.

he retreated back into the shadows. so many questions. who was that dark elf who could use such witchcraft ? he concluded that he would trail this group untill it was time.

Startalon looks around in dawning confusion at all that is happening around him. the morning has turned very strange indeed. who is the dark elf who has what appears to be little control over his spells? he wonders to himself as his sharp eyes pick out something falling from the mages pocket.

"Strange people you attract Sylvan. who do you think these people are and what do you suppose they want with us?" he whispers to darian. "if it comes to fighting Kodiak you are injured. Do try to leave the fighting to us and not injure yourself further. i have no desire to try and carry you to town if you are already dead."

Startalon trys to keep all of the strangers in his sight at once which quickly becomes evidently impossible as he picks up movement coming up behind them. like darian he is quickly going through his remaining spells he had the chance to Devote before all hell broke loose. It is not many and most are useless against this many possible enemies but he can atleast shield his injured party member from further injury.

Startalon begins muttering a spell as the gold Flecks come alive in his eyes. he is looking at kodiak as the blue flames grow at his finger tips....

cursing at the lost spell from the other running out of range, Darien starts to worry about the overly public place they seemed to have chosen for their out of the way conversation. Catching the movement from behind him he quickly chooses his last useful spell to have at the ready.

"funny, I thought it was your presence that attracted all of this. Let's just see about surviving this and getting Kodiak some help. Hope that dog can take out some more if need be" Gripping his staff in a more defensive position, he stand up and turns to see the newest arrival.

crovax continued walking up to the group a little uneasy about what he was seeing then he saw the magic starting 2 rise in the to mages and started to look for somewhere to go if a full magic breakout happened.

he looked to his left and desided to take a seat against a wall to see how thigs would happen before he mad one of them angry

as feanor approached the men he slowed to a halt and gave a friendly smile. he stood there hoping the two mages made the right choice as by the look of there friend they needed the medical help of a ranger from the wild.

Kodiak shuffles to his feet, Kristo alert and growls after all the action which has just occurred, but stays put. Looking at the smiling stranger, wondering what was going to happen next.

"Party is over, what brings you here?" Right hand by his dagger.

Darien casually walks to his horse, never taking his eyes off of the new arrival. Once he reaches his mount, he draws a bow and starts to string it.

Startalon decides to go with his gut instinct and cast his shield. not doubting for a minute that kodiak can take care of hisself but better safe than sorry.

Startalon Casts Shield on Kodiak...

The fire flows from Startalons hands to form a sphere around Kodiak. the blue fire dissapears just as soon as it appears leaving a faint trace of a line around the man. Startalon turns his attention to the strangers, once again daggers appear in both of his hands and he stands in a stance that shows he is obviously prepared to use them at a moments notice.

"you strangers state your purpose in this field and your business with this group or prepare to die as quickly as you appeared. i do not take kindly to people i don not know appearing out of thin air."

The smile went from his face. he flicked his wrist and a long sharp dagger fell into his grasp. his eyes narrowed, he turned around and walked of towards the tavern insulted by the rude behavior of such noble looking people. as he approached the tavern he turned his head back towards the group and smiled again, at the same time the dagger disapearing back into the creases of his sleave. he turned away and carried on walking into the tavern.

"what in the world was that about?" Darien asks as he starts walking towards the horses of the dead men "but we can figure that out after we get Kodiak some help." He slings his bow across his back and starts removing the travel bags from the horses. "What is on that dropped piece of paper anyhow? "he gestures towards where the paper dropped by the stranger landed, then leads the horses back and ties them off to his own saddle. Then he turns suddenly as if he remembered something forgotten and walks over to the tied up corpse. He then removes his rope and recoils it. Shrugging the rope over his shoulder and quickly takes the coin pouch, placing it in his pocket. Roughing over the body, he checks him for anything else of importance, gathering his weapons as he goes. After he finishes this affair he takes the items back to his horse, places them on his saddle and mounts. "Shall we head into town before we try and find a more secretive place to talk. And once you get fixed up there, Kodiak, lets go back to the tavern and see what we can find out about these new comers."

'So it conclusive' Korlash thought to himself whilst nimbly navigating the varying expanses of rooftops and sheer drops, 'to the tavern it is'.

a small grin crept across his face at the general ignorance of townsfolk in the area. they always had something to do and were far too busy sorting out their own lives to worry about other strangers, and had always lived on a dont ask dont tell basis. it was because of this that Korlash had been able to find his way around both by ground and rooftop. there was always an open window at dusk and the townsfolk seldom noticed any activity from above as there was no future for them in the skies. maybe through blind faith, he assumed that during the day not much would have changed.

he had learnt how to climb with discresion during his years of exile. With that skill came another, how to take a fall. this had helped his harden his physik and relentlessness which was now fueled by this outbreak of newcomers. 'silence for so long yet all the commotion came in a single moment. what is the significance of this? all will be answered soon' he prayed as he took the next rooftop to the left.

'given the partys current stauts and condition i should have 15 minuets to rest' and with that he lowered himself down onto the window ledge on the second floor of the tavern and prised the window open using a small knife that he used for fleching. he jumped into a room that had never been used since he first came to the village, the VIP room. walking over to the bed he paused to take off his boots and fell onto the matress keeping his bow and knife on the nearby table he turned to face the door and let out a long sigh of exhaustion before closing his eyes for a quick break. his mind was already in overtime and he set a mental note for 15 minuets rest that got lost amongst the vivid scenes he was recalling. 'such madness' he thought as he drifted off into a well earned rest.

crovax looked up at the movment that was happening he could not quite hear what was happening but he got the feeling that the ranger had nort been welcome. he had noticed the way the strange ranger had gone and decided to follow just as the group of semignly hostile men moved off. he decided not to move at that moment least he ensuw(spell?) their wrath.

he looked up and saw some movment but though of it just as a bird or the wood of a bow "who would be on a roof" he thought and put it down to being a bird

his first experience of a town in the last few years was realy showing how much he had lost contact with the world. and how if he wanted to survive he would have to be carfull who he talked to.

That thought of drink filled his mind as he set of to find a place to drink and maybe to rest if the little coin he had left was able to go that far.

" Thanks for your consideration, but I don't go down that easily . I am fine to go on the road" Darian and Startalon are watching him in disbelief. Kodiak whistles for his horse to come. Putting his arm around the horse he throws his leg over the horse and almost falls off the other side and becomes light headed. He closes his eyes for a moment. "Okay, maybe I could stand a night back at the tavern and locate a healer, but first a drink."

" Say are you going to tell us about the parchment?"

Startalon, still never taking his eyes off of the strange people who suddenly appear and then walk away, walks over to the parchment laying on the ground and picks it up. he turns back towards darian with it in his hand and hands it to him.

"Here sylvan, my eyes can not make out Aboveground language without the aid of a spell and i did not have time to Devote that particular one to memory. after you tell me what it says i may leave the two of you until dark. i have no desire to once again see the inside of that tavern filled with human stench. i will meet up with you after the night has fallen."

Darien rides over and takes the parchment from the drow. After looking at it for a moment he shakes his head "Nothing I can make out either." he tucks it into his belt then looks at the dark elf "We can see about having it deciphered later. For now we need to see to immediate needs. I'll take Kodiak into back into town to see about getting some healing, and some information on all these new ones. I think I can get him to the Tavern, and bring a healer to him. Take one of these horses and ride South of here. There is a game path that is pretty easy to follow. I saw a ridgeline with a shallow cave just off of it about a half an hours ride." He tosses him the reigns of a spare mount and turns his own to join the half elf to ride back into town.

Reassuring Kodiak that he would care for the horses, and he would return to the tavern shortly with a healer, Darien heads to the Stables with the horses. After paying a silver to have the horses stabled and fed, he Walks down the road carrying the multiple travel bags to locate a local temple to negotiate the services of a cleric.

At the Temple, he speaks with a priest, who ushers him to a back room where a low level cleric is praying. At his entrance, the cleric finishes his vows and turns to the Elf. After some bit of discussing a price, Darien pays the agreed price and escorts the cleric back to the tavern.
